Ty Llwydcoed
Throughout its history, unlike the majority of brass bands, Llwydcoed has never owned and operated its own rehearsal base.
Recent external analysis of the finances of the band has highlighted the large amount of expense the band incurs annually renting its current premises, spending more in two months than other bands with their own properties spend in a year.
Given current covid safety guidelines, the band's current premises are also unsuitable for use, a situation which is likely to to persist for at least the next nine months to a year.
In consultation with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, the band have identified an ideal premises, which could be secured through the Council's RCT Together programme, an initiative focused on working with communities and the voluntary sector to explore alternative delivery models, to maintain council services and facilities
In discussion with the RCT Together team, the council have identified the possibility of the former Perthcelyn Community Centre as a new base for the band and its activities. Currently disused, the building offers a spacious main hall, perfect for use within current covid safety guidelines. Additional facilities include washrooms, ample storage space plus a lesser hall, which would provide an ideal facility for use by additional partner organisations. A local playgroup has already been identified who are interested in sharing the space. A full floorplan of the building is outlined below
